Relationship Intent
What are you actually here for? Long-term, marriage-minded, open to serious dating, still figuring it out. Stated plainly, by you, up front.
Tampa Bay · Launching soon
Threshold is a verification-first dating app for people who are done with popularity contests. No paid boosts. No likes counter. Nobody ranked by looks or popularity. Just verified people, honest about what they want.
Identity-verified members · No precise location stored · Built for intentional dating
Why Threshold
The attention economy is built to keep you searching. More swipes, more likes, more upgrades, more time spent looking — because the time you spend searching is the product. Dating turns into a popularity contest, an inbox to manage, a visibility auction you didn't know you'd entered.
Threshold runs on a decision economy. Mutual effort. Clear intentions. Real conversations. A capped set of people, so you can actually think about them.
Burned out, overwhelmed, unsure who to trust — and still hopeful. You're not the problem. The incentives are.
How we match
Threshold does not rank people by looks or popularity. We do not profile your behavior or use machine learning to decide who you see, and we do not build a hidden model of what you "really" want. You are never shown a rating, and there isn't one to sell.
Here's what we do instead: you say what you're looking for. So does everyone else. Introductions are ordered by how well those stated answers line up — by rules we can explain, using only the things you each chose to share.
What are you actually here for? Long-term, marriage-minded, open to serious dating, still figuring it out. Stated plainly, by you, up front.
What kind of partnership do you actually want? How you each imagine work, money, and the daily running of a life together. The questions couples fight about later, asked first.
What's the season you're in? Career, education, dating, marriage and family, retirement, travel and fun, or personal growth. Pick the true one.
You are never ranked by how attractive or popular you are, and you're never shown a rating. What orders your day is what people plainly said they want.
This isn't a marketing promise. It's written into our Terms of Service: "we do not rank people by popularity or attractiveness, and we do not use machine learning or behavioral profiling to decide who you see."
What's different
Visibility isn't for sale. Nobody buys their way in front of you.
No popularity scoreboard. No inbox of unanswered admirers to feel bad about.
Pro raises your own limits. It does not change how anyone else sees you, and it does not put you above anyone.
A limited number of active conversations at once. It's harder to hoard people you're never going to message.
The design goal is that you leave. Not that you scroll.
We collect what we need to run this and nothing else. Less to lose, for both of us.
How it works
A government ID and a live selfie confirm you're a real adult. Everyone does it. Nobody skips it.
Relationship intent, relationship dynamic, life priorities. The questions that usually wait until date three.
A capped daily set, ordered by how well people's stated answers line up with yours — never by looks or popularity, and never a rating you're shown.
No passive collecting. Everyone participates. Everyone chooses.
Limited active conversations. Inactive ones archive on their own, which frees space for someone you'll actually meet.
An optional self-portrait — how you tend to communicate and connect — plus, on a match, where the two of you line up on what you each said. It's a mirror, not a verdict.
Safety & trust
Every dating app says it takes safety seriously. Here is specifically what we do, in terms you can check.
Government ID and a live selfie, before anyone can be seen. Not a badge you can earn. Not a step you can skip.
Your verification provider checks your ID and live selfie and keeps that record no longer than one month. Threshold itself never receives your selfie or a scan of your face — we store only a pass/fail and whether you're over 18. We could not identify you from a photo if we wanted to; we don't hold the data.
Every photo you upload — including images sent inside conversations — is screened for known child sexual abuse material using Microsoft PhotoDNA before it can be seen. For that check, only a mathematical fingerprint of the image is compared against the known-CSAM database — never the image itself — and any confirmed match will be reported to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, as U.S. law requires. Anything not cleared is held for human review before it appears.
The app asks once for approximate location, and you can say no — it still works. Whatever your phone reports is blurred the moment it reaches us: snapped to a grid about two-thirds of a mile across, then randomly nudged again. Only the blurred point is stored. Other people see a band — "Nearby," "Further away." Nobody sees a point on a map, because we don't keep one.
Every safety tool is available to every member at no cost. Nothing that keeps you safe will ever sit behind a paywall.
Verification confirms who someone is. It does not confirm they are safe. We do not conduct background checks, and we won't pretend otherwise. Meet in public. Tell a friend. Trust yourself.
Membership
A one-time fee to verify and join. It keeps out bots, scammers, and people who aren't serious. It's the same for everyone, and it's the last time we ask.
A monthly membership with higher limits and more control over your own experience. Never boosts. Never hidden likes. Never an advantage over another person.
Safety, verification, and reporting are never behind the Pro tier. They are standard, for everyone.
Pro gives you more control — not power over other people.
Tampa Bay launch
Dating is local. A dating app with a thin population isn't a dating app — it's a waiting room. We're launching in Tampa, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater first, and building real density before we go anywhere else.
